How New Moms Find Time to Shower, Eat, and Sleep

As a new mom I did not realize how much balance would completely halt all at the same time until I found myself becoming a hermit in my bedroom with my baby for the first 10 days of motherhood.

Interestingly enough, this had nothing to do with postpartum depression and everything to do with the fact that I did not have a functional plan of action on how to deal with these overnight changes.

So here's my go to guide for finding the time to shower, eat, and sleep in the first days/weeks/months of motherhood:

How to Take Showers

- Opt for a shower when everyone is sleeping (especially your baby) if living with others.

- Take a "bird bath" when you want to sleep in but want to refresh your body

- Place your baby safely in his car seat while you take your shower (no steamy showers allowed for this method)

How to Eat

- Meal prep all of your meals for the week well in advance for grab n go situations.

- Eat during baby's naptimes and after feedings

- Shake up a Shakeology for 2-3 minute time windows + needed nutrition

How to Sleep

- Sleep when you're baby is sleeping (after he's been swaddled, bathed, and fed)

- Allow grandparents to take baby for the weekend if possible
